U-16 Girls Cricket Championship
When a client approaches you with a tight deadline, we know that we have to be on top of our game - in terms of meeting chimera-like expectations, overcoming unseens, packing nimbleness into our backpacks - as every step becomes a lesson. All the client had was fire in their bellies and a complete submission that we would come up with miracles. Within days we rolled out a brand identity for a under-16 girls championship and all the brand communication that was required to make this a success. A press conference, business stationery, brochures, flyers, invitations, tournament templates, mementos, prizes, certificates, banners, social media campaigns, the works. The tournament, apparently the first such in India, was conducted with the help and support of the Kerala Cricket Association. This augurs well for the organsiers. What they would still attribute its success to, however, is the fact that there was a confident young woman, bright purple colours and a cry for girl empowerment that reverberated and resonated with all. Be it the players, the association, the sponsors, the high profile chief guests to even the organisers. We were more than glad we could play a part. It was a short 2 week engagement that left us exhausted yet highly satisfied. Thank you Arc Festivals for the opportunity.
This had to bring age group cricket among girls to the fore. Something like this was not attempted before in India. Come to think of it not even Ranji Trophy has a brand identity! So when we were tasked with this, we had to stay relevant as well as bold. We decided to showcase a young and ambitious girl in the logo itself without bringing in the willow or the red cherry, which is the norm. The girl in helmet brought out the cricket and the toughness in her. We made a colourful, sporty, pleasing and dynamic yet relevant brand identity that would appeal to the fraternity. Every communication revolved around these dominant planks - the bright and bold brand identity. The fact that the logo can be adaptable for any age group cricket gives it the longevity which is so very critical for the girls' game where corporate support is hard to come by.
